​Our town council representatives ultimately decide whether to approve what either the Planning Board and Historic Preservation Commission initially approves.  Planning board members ( and HPC) are volunteers and are usually selected because they have relevant expertise and well as willingness to serve.  Council members  in many cases rely heavily on board recommendations but they are also elected to represent the residents.
